| STATEMENT This current project, inspired in part by the work of Francis Bacon, explores the notion of the Inner Daemon and how this can be expressed visually. These 'Daemons' come in many forms and effect people in varying degrees, I decided to focus in on depression and mental illness. I took a series of self portraits and then from those images created my own set of inkblot images, simply by changing the image into a negative and mirroring it. Inkblots, the most famous set of which designed and pioneered by Hermann Rorschach, are used by psychologists to determine and diagnose various psychological problems. |
