| STATEMENT I consider narrative in my photographs and consider how to convey a continuing mood I will portray a time period in a panoramic image or a series of photographs. I choose my models and believe keeping a theme to the models will create an auteur feeling to my work. Before shooting my photographs I eliminate all outside factors and variables by planning costume, light, models, and props. This gives me the kind of creative control you would expect to find in the mise en scene of a film set. I ensure no one else other than people who help with carrying lights generators etc, models, and myself are there, this gives me complete and creative control of the outcome of the photograph. This process is reinforced by the original drawings I make; these decide what goes into the photograph and how it looks. Everything in the images are made or placed there by myself, nothing falls down to chance, for example if I wanted a specific wallpaper or a chair I would not find somewhere that has it I would hang it myself or make the chair myself. I make working drawings with the final images in mind, to show that this is my fabricated and hand made vision opposed to existing images which I have merely embodied in a snapshot way. These drawings are not the main focus but an integral part of my work. |
